Bill: The Musikill
The Southern Theater, 2017
Bill: The Musikill, my collaboration with the performance duo Fire Drill, is an experimental musical set in a dystopian, post-climate-disaster tech commune. Pushed to the blistering pace of hyper-entertainment from start to finish, this exhausting spectacle measures the human cost of engineered happiness.
This musical premiered at Minneapolis's Momentum Dance Festival in July 2017. It was commissioned by The Jerome Foundation, The Walker Art Center, The Cowles Center and The Southern Theater.
Above and below you will find documentation of full performances of Bill: The Musikill.
The above recording was made on July 14, 2017; the below was made on closing night, July 15, 2017. Both recordings were made live during the Momentum Dance Festival at The Southern Theater.
Bill: The Musikill was commissioned by the Cowles Center in part with funds provided by the Jerome Foundation, and is presented in partnership with Southern Theater, and Walker Art Center. This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
